Life of Fred

fredIt’s hysterical, whimsical, delightful and practical. “Life of Fred” is an elementary level math program on steroids with high school language arts, as well. Its entertainment value stems from its eccentricity, written by Stan Schmidt, Ph.D, and his books’ main protagonist, Fred Gauss, born on the western slopes of the Siberian mountains.

Professor Schmidt doesn’t know me, and while I’m ordering some of his books, I had never heard of him until now. And no, inquiring minds, I am not compensated for this kind of review. Which is funny, because one of the books I chose for our teen kids is “Life of Fred Financial Choices”.

Just to give you a clear view of how fab and fun this series is, allow me to lift one of 016139their promotional blurbs:

“If you want to wear clothes or eat or live indoors, this book may help you accomplish those goals.

In this book you will find:

  • Three reasons to use a credit card
  • The ultimate use of money
  • The five places to invest
  • How to retire in 24 years (Nothing financial is 100% certain—but this comes close.)
  • Five suggestions for choosing a good spouse
  • Insurance—what to buy and what not to buy
  • Taxes—the seven categories
  • Personal habits that will help make you successful
  • Real estate—what to buy and when to buy
  • Stocks, bonds, mortgages, REITS, certificates of deposit, mutual funds
  • How Kingie made his fortune.

financialchoicesThis book is designed for 10th grade through adults.

Health is much more important than making a pile of money.

Having a loving and caring family life is more precious than mansions and yachts.

But having a decent amount of money can add a lot of pleasure in life. Being able to give things to your loved ones (and to yourself) is the ultimate reason to acquire wealth. Having wealth can subtract a lot of pain.

This book might do more to increase the happiness of its readers than any of the math books (or the four high school language arts books) written by Stan Schmidt.

In this book you will learn:
