Misha the Muse

IMG_1349 Our Scotties inspire me that I should be sleeping more and playing more.  Misha the elder especially is my muse when he rolls over, scratches himself, offers up a big, old, foghorn-sounding sigh, so that a) I might give him a tasty treat, or that b) he might go back to sleep in his sunbeam.

His younger “brother”, Grisha, likes to lay on his back, snort and romp, but Misha is too refined for such silliness.  He goes around and around in a circle, in order to plunk down just-so.  After awhile, he might assume the superman position with both front and back paws extended.

(I have a girlfriend with cats who do the same, so it must not be that odd.)

I love Misha’s paws:  big, meaty, tough pads, except for when we took a couple of days off for a IMG_1350getaway (should have known better-!) and he scraped his pad, making him limp, and making us seek out meaningful medication in a small town where there were fishing boats and a flying calimari that a bird dropped near our car downtown, if you recall.

There’s always an adventure when you’re around Scotties….

IMG_1351Even if the adventure is simply in their twitching, whimpering dreams, where I have to wake them up before they’re swallowed alive by some monster… like a flying calimari….

No wonder he hides behind his bushy eyebrows.

Anyway, here’s my big baby Misha.  I love him (and Grisha) so much!
