Monday Mottoes – #111

thMy day starts quite early in the morning. If you’re anything like me, this time of year, you know experientially that the sunrise is getting to be later and later. Autumn is upon us, particularly noticeable when even the Mid-Atlantic states drop to the 30s in temperature at night.

I step into the crisp air and glimpse my breath emanating in small puffs. The crispness of leaves, of apples, of the wind combine to give a spring to the step. It’s fall for sure.

Which brings us to today’s motto:fall

“I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.” ~Nathaniel Hawthorne (1842)

That beautiful, golden sunshine. It speaks of heavy sweaters, and hot cocoa, and football. It echoes the fall foliage, a riot of yellows, oranges and reds.

thI know that many believe fall to be a time of death and decay as the cycle of life grinds down for the year. Yet, for me, autumn means vibrancy, a time to pick up the pace and enjoy the season with one’s senses. It’s time to celebrate: it’s fall and all is fabulous!

Happy Monday, everyone!
