Monday Mottoes – #14

8bf45790299d054c2beefa48e62305aeWhat gets you going in the morning?  Is it a sense of mission, a feeling of purpose, some happy music or a power breakfast?  Maybe it’s a quick workout, or a walk with the dog.

Which brings us to today’s motto:  “Morning has broken.   Mr. Coffee has spoken.”

While I normally drink decaf coffee, or decaf green tea, I must admit I departed from my puritan ways while in Israel.  In-room hotel coffee makers offered decaf coffee packets which I used up first of all, then regular caffeinated coffee (used second), then Turkish coffee, or what Israelis call “botz” (mud — which settles in the bottom of the coffee glass).

Yes, coffee is generally enjoyed in a class cup sans handles, all the 20110428_Middle-East-Coffee-teabetter to burn your fingers by. You grasp the rim of the glass and hope for the best.

Life in the Middle East revolves around coffee. European cafes are packed each morning as pedestrians stop by for a java jolt.  Stop by any American Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, or McDonalds, and you’ll see much the same.  Or in the average person’s kitchen, as they brew up a morning cappuccino.  It’s a celebration of sorts to have a hot cup of tea, a steaming bowl of bouillon, or a mug of hot cocoa in the morning.

Life is meant to be celebrated.  You are meant to be celebrated.  Stay warm and embrace the day before you.

Happy Monday, everyone!
