Monday Mottoes – #175
You see, friend, life happens fast. Sometimes our reactions happen even faster. The texts and e-mails and phone calls fly back and forth, fast and furious. Things get all twisted around and misconstrued.
For no good reason.
People were meant to get along, enjoy life, help each other, praise the Lord and solve the world’s problems. It’s just that simple.
Yet, some folks don’t feel quite right without a whole lot of dirty-dealing and high-drama. So the rest of us need to learn how to adjust and tip-toe around the mine fields. Which brings us to today’s motto:
“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.” ~Charles Swindoll
Our reactions say it all. Are we short and terse with those we love? All for the sake of a witty comeback? Or are we dismissive of colleagues whose ideas don’t keep pace with ours?
Take a break before tossing out a rapid reply. Our responses locate us.
Positive and polite is the way to go. An extra minute of your time would make all the difference. It shows someone that you care, particularly those who don’t push themselves to prominence and scream for constant accolades.
The same stuff happens to most of us in life. But how we conduct ourselves sets apart the men from the boys, the women from the girls and the top-drawer people from those lingering near the bottom of the barrel.
Rise up today and let your reactions reflect your highest and best efforts. Happy Monday, everyone!
