Monday Mottoes – #177
Time is the great revealer, the one measure by which we pull back the curtain of life and discover what really matters. Apart from priorities and a ladder of values, time slips away like wisps of fog as a storm rolls in.
Have you ever noticed: the storms of life seem to settle and cast their shadows over those who have no standards for the expenditure of their time? It’s like a greedy slot machine where you feed it coin after coin and never win anything. Aimless, mindless, minute after minute, hour after hour flit through your fingers if you don’t have a plan.
Yet, even with cars and refrigerators, computers and mobile phones, we seem to run out of time. How can that be?
It’s a lack of planning and priorities. If you only spent 10% of your day with your mate, that would still almost be two-and-one-half hours. And some cannot manage five minutes.
Which brings us to today’s motto:
This Chinese philosopher was on to something.
We’re all pressed for time. We all have matters of urgency.
But when you never have time for things that matter? It means they don’t matter to you. Your heart is empty and must be recharged and refilled.
Time is the great revealer of what’s important. How you spend your time locates you. Take it back. Make it count. First things first.
Make it a great Monday, everyone!
