Monday Mottoes – #188

thTwo different perspectives prevail when it comes to business and when it comes to life in general: jump in with both feet running, or take tiny baby steps and creep along. The former involves lots of potential mistakes, while the latter barely gets you anywhere.

But slow-mo is safe.

Do you mind making mistakes? Personally, I don’t think it’s the best way to learn. In other words, if you want to get ahead in life, it doesn’t mean that you’ll need to make 20 or 50 major mistakes to get there. But you can’t be overly afraid of messing up, either, because that will hinder you, for sure.

When it comes to investments, yes, keeping the money under the mattress may seem like a safe move. Conversely, with investing, stepsthere is always some risk. I mean, you could lose your principal and any expected interest. That’s where calculated risk comes in. Go for it, but assess the risk first.

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.” ~ Mary Tyler Moore

There’s a lot of truth in that. A little bit of pain can result in huge amounts of gain. Don’t shrink back from the difficult, the challenging, something outside the comfort zone.

Happy Monday, everyone!
