Monday Mottoes – #205

BlameIt’s been a rough weekend with Hurricane Harvey hitting Texas and now the rain and flooding. We see television images of residents fleeing with children and dogs in arm, cars floating down sunken streets. Many homes, schools, houses of worship, oil refineries and businesses are gone.

That’s rough. Most of us are praying for the people affected, as well as being thankful regarding our own circumstances, be they good or less than ideal. As they say, perspective is everything.

In anyone’s life, some days are good, and some days are difficult. So we become creative in order to learn how to deal with the ups and downs of life. Lacking skills or flexibility to learn, some self-medicate in order to escape the realities of situations beyond their control. But that’s like dropping out, giving up, throwing in the towel, when instead, you could be changing your reality for the better.

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world areblaming-their-circumstances the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.” ~George Bernard Shaw

Well-said.

Who hasn’t met a challenging circumstance? Yet, if we understand that this is the opportunity to look in the mirror, dig deep within and hoist ourselves up, we’ll be in much better shape. No more blaming others, blaming circumstances, blaming the roll of the dice. Take charge!

Make it a great life, make it a great day, reach for the stars. Happy Monday, everyone!
