Monday Mottoes – #206

thAhhh… the end of summer. The languid days, by intention or by weather, coming to an end. The crisper temps urging all to greater productivity. It’s Labor Day and time to regroup.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever met a season that I don’t enjoy. Alright, so the summer wreaks havoc with the hair. Still…. I consider the humidity to be my very own age-defying sauna, the sand at the seashore my own pain-free pumice.

What’s not to like about the change of seasons and a Monday holiday to kick it off? Which brings us to today’s motto:

“People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy.” ~ Anton Chekhovsparrows-in-the-fall-wide

That’s the heart of the matter, most likely, being happy regardless of, and independent from, our circumstances. I’m not sure that Chekhov literally meant that he didn’t notice the snow or sun, but we get the idea. To be emotionally stable, we need a certain sense of who we are and where we’re going. We need a life that is our anchor, in order to not be sidetracked or sidelined by incidentals.

On a lovely holiday when you might gain a minute or two to ponder and consider, ask yourself: what is your life’s purpose? What are you doing in this particular season of life? Grab hold of the essentials, prepare for any upcoming storms, whether literal or figurative, and move forward into fall.

Happy Monday, everyone!
