Monday Mottoes – #221

crMost of us like to hear of battles won overnight, whether it’s a fight for the corner office waged by someone doing very little, yet who has the eye or the ear of the boss, versus another employee who accomplishes amazing feats, while earning little recognition. It might be the struggle against ISIS, with the tide now turning decisively, nevertheless after years of horrific attacks, beheadings, human immolations and slavery. It may be an estranged family member, finally seeing the light after many difficult days. It could be a test with a terrible illness that stretches on and on.

Slow victories, slugging it out. They somehow don’t offer the same satisfaction as lightning victoriescr where BAM! It’s over and done with.

I think of Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill, two of the greatest leaders in semi-recent history. However, not everyone appreciated their approaches. It took time for their message to grow on people. In some cases, it took the desperation of a nation to appreciate what was right before them. Which leads us to today’s motto:

“The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.” ~ Winston Churchill

Truth, pure and simple. Truth making us free. Truth prevailing over ignorance and spin.

This time of year, don’t seek to squash the light with Scrooge’s extinguishing cap. Embrace truth as a friend and let it light your path.

Happy Monday, everyone!
