Monday Mottoes – #222

crHappy New Year 2018!

Hope your day is getting off to an amazing start, no matter whether you stayed up late last night or not. Today’s the time to start (or continue!) running with the vision for your life.

A fresh start. A blank slate. A new page.

Very exciting! Maybe a little daunting….

What’s the new chapter that you’ll be writing this year? And by “new” I don’t mean leave the crmate, leave the job, leave the town for something new. In many ways, that’s too simple to get an immediate sense of change, while often jumping from the frying pan into the fire. It’s easy to blame others for the life we live, but ultimately, we need to own it. We were the ones who signed up for that spouse, that project, that location. Tweak it, but keep the tape rolling….

For a good page-turner of a story, there needs to be some sort of continuity in your life. Avoid zinging from tragedy… to comedy… to drama…. Take charge and hold steady.

crResentment and bitterness often surface when we expect others to do for us what we should be doing for ourselves. Time to turn over a new leaf and recognize that we have the power to change and transform. Look at yourself in the mirror: no more codependency and complaining. No more nose pressed against the window of others’ lives. No more spectator mentality, sitting and waiting to be picked out of a big crowd by someone on the stage.

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“Make New Year’s goals. Dig within, and discover what you would like to have happen in your life this year. This helps you do your part. It is an affirmation that you’re interested in fully living life in the year to come.” ~Melody Beattie

Don’t drop out when you can step up! Opportunities abound all around you. Get a life and live it fully in 2018.
