Monday Mottoes – #224

crToday in the US, it’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. We celebrate the civil rights activist and his contributions to racial equality. We also commemorate his historic “I Have a Dream” speech delivered in Washington, DC, on August 28, 1963.

There, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial almost 55 years ago, things changed. The speech was a catalyst for moving forward. It was a call to action that was positive and productive, instead of negative and destructive.

Currently, a number of groups talk about change, but it always seems to be “change at the crexpense of another”. Violence and anger have no place at the table of negotiation. We must use reason and the power of right, instead.

Which leads us to today’s motto:

“In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Very well said. It’s statements such as these that supported and blew his other, more famous statements out of the ballpark. They were rooted in rationality and what was right.

crMay this be the case in our time, half a century later. Let us all fight for what is right… in the right way.

Happy Monday, everyone!
