Monday Mottoes – #234

crRoadblocks come to everyone in life. The question is, what do we do when these curve balls are tossed our way?

It might be a health challenge, a career crash, a relationship upset, a cancelled contract. Some accept this as a type of game, pushing forward and seeing how high they might jump. For them, it’s nothing personal, it comes with the territory of growth. They shrug their shoulders and take it on.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are those who take everything as an individual attack, or try to blame-shift as though the whole world is against them. They cry, they complain, they avoid reality.

They make it a final verdict, rather than a small town they’re just passing through.Winston Churchill

Which leads us to today’s motto:

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ~Sir Winston Churchill

If anyone navigated the challenges of life, it was Churchill. Somehow, from deep inside, he mustered the strength to stand up again and again.

Perhaps what’s lacking today is a sense of moral mandate. When you know what is right, you can stand, despite, and in the face of, all odds.

crYet, just as there is fake news that appears from time to time, there are also fake moral issues— in other words, the sense that everyone else should listen to your pronouncements, but no sense of personal change or personal courage. The encouraging news is that no matter where we are presently— on the highway to our destination, or broken down on the side of the road, it’s possible for us to get back on the path to purpose and productivity.

Happy Monday, everyone!
