Monday Mottoes – #47

tax-deadline-295v001I admire military strategists and accountants because they both understand the value of a bottom line. Not everyone in life comprehends the fact that there are deadlines to keep, plans to follow, and goals to reach. They live in la-la land, hoping that things will one day be different, but never taking concrete steps of action.

These kind of people bug me.

Without a strategy, there is no success. The how-to plot helps you to connect the dots.

And if it doesn’t work?

Some may say, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” But you can lose a9ab863a1e609dd628ae338c10b58d4ed whole lot of years and venture capital in the process. The faster you figure out what’s not working, the faster you can get on track in the right direction.

This week’s selected quote comes not from a military strategist, yet possesses a name similar to a great leader. Which brings us to today’s motto:

sailboat2“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.” ~Napoleon Hill

A beautiful summer day spreads before you and you decide to spend it sailing. The smart sailor doesn’t just sit there, as the sailboat tears off across the horizon, wherever it wishes to go. Instead, minor manipulations are used to move the sail this way and that.

In order for there to be smooth sailing ahead—in terms of your health, your marriage, your family, your business—you’re going to need to do some analyzing and steering.

Over and over again. Keep tweaking and adjusting until you see your intended destination come into view.

Happy Monday, everyone!
