Monday Mottoes – #54

thSome people are active during the summer. They swim, boat, toss horseshoes, waterski, picnic and barbeque. Oh, sorry—those last two eating events snuck in there by accident. Back to bikeriding, rollerblading, skateboarding, and jogging along the beach or hiking in the hills.

Me? Eh. I try to stay out of the sun by baking cookies.

But fall is my time of year. That’s right, I’m coming out of summer nature-wallpaper-autumn-fall_1600x1200hibernation, lol. Other years, I’ve tried to endure the heat, sweat, and mosquitos. This year – nope. So now I need to cast off that lethargy and ramp it up.

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” ~Jim Rohn

ffcc27293597217e32098b18a8b8be4aI’ll start by standing up and walking around every hour, or even every half-hour, which has been proven to cause tremendous health benefits for the desk-bound.

Next, I’m going to do a brief, in-home exercise routine morning and evening, no matter what. Yes, I am. No excuses about the weather… or whether I feel like exercising. About 15 minutes twice a day should fall-exercise-298x232do it. No need to block out huge amounts of time that I already don’t have. Make it manageable and I’ll be able to manage.

And finally, I should schedule in something fun a couple of times a week—jogging along the beach, playing tennis, powerwalks in nature. This is the hard part, since fun is not usually at the top of my list. That’s okay, I can adapt….

Today, let’s take time to care for our bodies… as well as our minds and spirits.
