Monday Mottoes – #59

thHave you ever tried to ask a friend or family member for moral support? You know, you can’t take it anymore, or you need a change in your life, or someone’s working against you, and you feel the need to have someone in your court?

It’s a sad day when that supposedly trusted person decides to “give it to you straight” and tells YOU where YOU are all wrong.

With friends like that….

Nobody wants a yes-man, but to have a perpetually no-man-? And you realize: you’re on your own.th

Which is maybe not such a bad place to be. After all, if you’re a kind and sensible person, when everyone else has seemingly lost their mind, might be best to go it solo. At least you can trust yourself to be true to you. Why are you always supposed to be there for them… and they don’t have a spare moment for you?

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

thThink of it this way: if nobody is listening to your realities, then you need not listen to their faulty opinions of your reality.

Don’t let it get you down. Rise above the drama kings and queens and keep moving forward. They can tell you you’re wrong all they want, but be courageous and don’t let them wear you down. You know you’re right—be confident in that.

Happy Monday, everyone!
