Monday Mottoes – #80

8345892-snow-drops-at-the-end-of-winterHere’s hoping that the snows are pretty much over, International Day of the Woman has come and gone, the clocks have sprung forward, and it’s time for change. The sunshine’s warm rays encourage us that anything is possible.

No matter what the time of year, no matter what the weather (apart from downpours and deluges), I like to step outside for brisk walking. Jogging also impresses me as enjoyable, yet I’m unsure if it’s good for the joints, since I’ve knownwelch some marathon runners in the past and over a number of years, running didn’t seem like the best health move, though I do jog, as well.

Of course, I’m no marathon woman….

But it’s the fresh air. Love it. Which brings us to today’s motto:

51e9dc10bf23f0e98e4e964c91a4db73Movement and oxygen change everything. If there’s stiffness or immobility in one part of your body, move the other part. Even breathing in and out, allowing your exhale to be twice as long as your inhale, will refresh and renew you.

However, when living in an urban area, try not to go for a run at the height of rush hour on the side of a highway-! The exhaust fumes may do you more harm than good.

Find a park or school track where you can run or walk, sometimes an outside area with shops that are not crowded whenever you can carve out 30 minutes or so. If all else fails, develop a small backyard or balcony oasis where you might be surrounded by greenery and calm and do some stretching and breathing. You’ll be glad you did.
