Monday Mottoes – #96

thAs everyone knows, it’s possible for things to take a turn for the worse. My son, Petya, and I had prepared for our archaeological lab test, part of a state certification program, reported to last approximately two hours. In we went to face the music.

Seven-and-a-half hours later, it was over.

Exhausted, drained, semi-elated… we felt we had done our best. A number of questions on the test proved to be surprises, yet with a lot of prayer and study, we had over-prepped, reviewing the very items that turned out to be on the papers and spread on the lab tables before us.

Balancing this extra program with my grad studies, his undergrad studies, his job and my many jobs Distancewas threatening to push us over the edge. So we did the only thing we knew: keep calm and carry on… while moving full steam ahead to our written exams in mid-August.

Which brings us to today’s motto:

“A man on a thousand mile walk has to forget his goal and say to himself every morning,

‘Today I’m going to cover twenty-five miles and then rest up and sleep.’” ~Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace

Put one foot in front of the other and carry on. Over-prepare and be ready. Ask God for help. You will succeed.

Happy Monday, everyone!
