Monday Mug Club: #21

The holidays are winding down and here’s a reindeer mug that showed up at our place.  Huge, I’m not sure how many ounces it can hold, but you could probably bathe a small baby in it-!  A simple, stylized design, I like the clean lines.

I looked up a few quick facts on the reindeer and found that, while this is their name in Europe, they are called caribou in North America.  It never dawned on me that they were the same species, nor that both male and female grow antlers each year.

While the European and Asian herds are mostly domesticated, the North American arctic is home to numerous wild caribou herds.  Reindeer are said to be an endangered species primarily due to habitat destruction.  So the next time you glimpse a reindeer, be nice to him (or her)… or anyone else for that matter.

Happy Monday, everyone!
