My Adult Merit Badges
Think of all the fun that could have been!
I went to the girl scout site. It appears that the awards are called “badges”. My dad and brother were part of a boy scout troop— they had merit badges— and I think out of the two of them, only my father was the one having any fun. But I digress.
This is what the girl scout site says about badges. I love it:
“What is she passionate about? Does she dream of making her own movie, cooking food from a different country, or going geocaching? Sleeping under the stars, writing a book of short stories, or planting a garden?
“Or maybe she wants to invent something new, paint a masterpiece, or learn about endangered wildlife. Star in a play, design a website, or go kayaking. Even turn her bedroom into a jungle, run a successful business, or go on an amazing trip.”
Now, does that sound like fun, or what? I started to think about my real-life merit badges, the things I do every day that need to be celebrated. Adults should have merit badges-!
Give yourself a high-five today. Celebrate the beauty of “badges” or “bravos” you can give yourself anytime and anywhere.
