The Monday Mug Club: #9

“October in Paris” is what this mug is saying to me.  Take the poodle and go.  Shop till you drop.  A girl’s got to have some glamour.

Not that I have a poodle.  Not that my two Scotties have their international documenti in order.  But one can dream.

So we made the first fire of the season in the fireplace, gathered ‘round, and I pulled out my feel-happy mug.  It’s handpainted, and the glamour girl depicted somewhat resembles me.  Alright, maybe on a good day… maybe once upon a time… maybe fast-forward to the future-?

The problem with an artsy mug is that it’s rarely dishwasher- or microwave-safe.  You need to drink the café au lait NOW, not an hour or two from now when you need to warm it up.  I’ve found it helpful to first pour boiling hot water into the mug, leave for half a minute, pour it out, and then fill with my steaming beverage of choice.  Stays much warmer, longer, when the hot coffee doesn’t hit an ice cold cup.

And that’s just as important a message as “Cross the Channel and head to Paris to play”:  “Take a moment to savor some herbal tea or bouillon, coffee or cocoa, and stare at the fire.”  Listen to the crackle, gather your strength for the tasks at hand, nurture yourself along with all the other ones in your life.  You matter:  be confident and secure in that.

The weather is changing, so stay well, stay strong.  When you have a marvelous mug and a shot of hot tea or savoury soup, you probably won’t need a flu shot. That’s a happy thought.  All will be well with your world, priorities will be in line, and your week will flourish, Paris or no Paris.

Happy Monday, everyone!

I had my dinner planned for today before I saw how damp and gray it was. It would have been perfect for soup! But maybe I can still get a cup of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea in me before bed! And, I will drink if from my special cup that I had alread told you about in one of the other comments. : )
