The Road Less Traveled: Staying Home for Spring Break

winter-storm-buries-boston-in-record-snow-delays--2-5130-1422929170-0_dblbigExhaustion, snow storms, the economy, or any of a number of other considerations can lead folks to stay home come spring break. I mean, if you can’t get away, you can’t.

Often thought to be a vacation time for college students, many professionals and families in the Northeast and Midwest are ready to head somewhere, anywhere, this month or next. Yet, some schoolkids, such as those in Harford County outside of Baltimore have experienced the removal of days from their spring break.staycation

That could mess with any plans.

Cancelled flights, bumper-to-bumper traffic, sold-out hotels. The comfort of one’s own bed, the ability to go out or stay in for meals, unwinding and relaxing rather than sticking to a run-here-run-there, do-everything-in-a-week type of schedule could be appealing….

Jazz it up by visiting some nearby points of interest that you’ve never gotten around to seeing. Venture forth or act reclusive. Stay up late or sleep in. Meet with friends or commune with nature.

This is going to be one Spring Break to remember, custom-made according to your specs and nobody else’s.
